Snowshoeing
at Thorpe
Park--Sunday,
February 12th
Snowshoeing is
a great way to
enjoy the
outdoors in
the winter
time, as well
as get some
wonderful
exercise. If
you've always
wanted to try
it out, now's
your chance!
All you have
to do is meet
at the Thorpe
Park office at
2:00 PM for a
leisurely,
hour-long,
snowshoe hike
around Thorpe
Park. (To
make sure that
there are
enough
snowshoes
available, people
do need to
preregister for
the hike by
contacting
Naturalist Lisa Ralls. Registration will
be limited.)
Artifact
Road
Show--Sunday,
February 26th
Have you ever
found
something that
looks like an
artifact (or
maybe you know
that it is)
and
wanted to
learn more
about what you
found? Then,
plan to attend
this program!
Sarah Horgen
from the
University of
Iowa's Museum
of Natural
History
will be
viewing
artifacts that
people bring
in and
identifying
what they
have. She will
be in the
basement
meeting room
of TSB Bank in
Forest City,
beginning at
1:30 PM. She
will spend
about 2 hours
identifying
and evaluating
artifacts that
people bring
in.
She will not
be giving a
formal
presentation,
so you can
show up
anytime during
her visit to
have her take
a look at an
artifact that
you found. If
you don't have
anything to
bring in,
that's fine,
too; sometimes
it's just fun
to see what
other people
bring in!
Artifacts from
the WCCB's
collection
will also be
on display.
